University of Stirling

The University of Stirling team is lead by Philip Slavin.

Background

The Scottish team consists of well-established historians in the field of the history of plague and other infectious diseases. The team leadership is based at the Centre for Environment, Heritage and Policy at the University of Stirling.

Introducing the infrastructure

The Centre for Environment, Heritage and Policy (CEHP) is a unique interdisciplinary research programme across several university faculties, bringing together people from different fields and disciplines of environmental studies, including climatic and ecological change, soil science and environmental history. The proposed project will profit a great deal form the expertise of CEHP members, given their alignment with several of its thematic and methodological aspects. Also, the CEHP holds its weekly Tuesday research seminar series, which will allow Slavin to share insights and work-in-progress of the project with other CEHP members. In addition, the History Division at Stirling boasts a strong research culture in the fields of environmental history and history of medicine, with several members being currently involved in major research projects and initiatives, including historical pandemics and environmental change.
